Roessler Winery: The 2004 Alder Springs Vineyard Chardonnay superbly expresses the lush quality and tannic structure characteristic of this cooler-climate Mendocino County vineyard. Zesty citrus meets tropical fruit on the nose with underlying viscous notes of liquid minerals. On the palate, crisp acidity cuts through the rich, creamy mouthfeel and brightens the tropical fruit on the finish. As this wine opens up, hints of brown butter and toast mingle with nuances of cut grass to complement the higher fruit tones. Wonderfully balanced and with enough structure to shine over the next 2-5 years, but why wait?
